Founder, Principal Lawyer
Mbaka practices law in the Greater Toronto Area, Ontario. She focuses on Family and Divorce Law including property issues, contested and uncontested divorces, Child Protection (CAS Matters), and provides Notary Services. In addition, she prepares Wills and Powers of Attorney.
Mbaka’s approach to her legal work builds upon the skills she obtained while working in the social services sector. She began this work after completing a Masters degree in Sociocultural Anthropology. She was involved in local and international research on HIV/AIDS and social determinants of health, and worked at an AIDS Service Organization and engaged in extensive community development work. It was her work looking at the intersection of family violence, criminality and HIV/AIDS vulnerability which encouraged her to pursue a legal career.
Outside of work, Mbaka is an avid hiker - she enjoys getting lost (on purpose) on hiking trails with her dog Roxie. When not in nature, Mbaka can be found working on Reggae or Blues music, and playing her guitar.
